Default Irritating sound problem.

Recently my sound has begun acting up, it acts fine for most of the time but whenever i load into a new area in GW i get a brief "Bzzt" like sound with a volume varying each time, even more recently i was playing a mission when suddenly this sound came up in high volume and wouldnt go away anymore until i shut the game down, its louder then any other sound on my comp, i replaced my headset after it occured so thats not it. As far as i know it occurs in these cases:

Having a game (usually Guild Wars) in the background and then going to a diffrent page in my internet browser, each time i do it the sound becomes louder.

Starting up Oblivion the sound is there from the start and wont go away, much like my Guild Wars problem.

Randomly in Guild Wars, especially at its loading screens.

By the way: This sound blasts through my headset, it dousnt come from my computer casing.Im not sure what it is, im not good at viewing my comps components but i think its a Intel 82801GB ICH7 - High Definition Audio Controller

Attatched to my comp is a Phillips headset, SHP2700 should that matter but i doubt it.

Any ideas?

It sounds like some sort of driver bug. See if you can find updated drivers for your motherboard's audio chipset (usually provided by the manufacturer).

If you are using hardware acceleration, be sure to turn that OFF in the Guild Wars audio settings. You might also try using gw.exe -sndwinmm to bypass the DirectSound drivers altogether.

You can also add the -nosound switch to you GW shortcut. Right click on your shortcut and modify the path so it looks like "C:\Program Files\GUILD WARS\Gw.exe" -nosound. That's if you chose the default installation path. This will launch the game without any sound. You can also try -dsound to revert to the old sound engine that might help too if th eproblem has only been occuring recently.

It might not be a permanent solution, but it's a good temporary one.

no, these are just two different drivers that work well depending on what intel chipset you have. The first one I don't remember the exact name of, but the second one is a creative sound labs audigy driver I believe. They're offered through dell, but it doesn't mean you have to have a dell.

I was having a hard time getting through the intel site also, so this is what I found as an alternative.

Im probably way to carefull atm, but should i delete my old driver stuff and then just install the new one?I never did this before and im realy worried about accidently breaking my PC while trying to fix this.

On a side note this problem seems to occur only in Kourna.

It went fine for a good number of days, those are the days that i was in Vabbi, and today i set foot in Kourna and almost immidiatly it rears its ugly head.

Yes, you should uninstall your old driver before downloading the new one. It's safer. Also having your Av disabled when you install the driver might be a good idea.

If it's only happening in one area of guild wars then I wouldn't worry about uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling new or different ones. I would just check into windows update from time to time to see if there's an updated version of the driver you already have installed. If it was a problem in all applications, then I would start looking into getting a more updated sound driver. Might have to download the chipset identification tool from intel also.

I get the same problem on loading new areas, Ussually the first group of mobs sounds has the problem. You will be lagged out till you die (since I play a Monk). But I already get used to it. This started when Guildwars Hard Mode patch was released.

i have been playing guildwars for nearly 2 years now. at about 14 months of playing guildwars i started to get this noice that blasted out of my suround sound so i switched to headphones still the same. i toggled with the setting after getting it a couple of times and found that if you turn the quality of sound 1-2 down it dosent reacure. so you can try that. but the most annoying thing was this blanket of white that appeard on my screen and every thing went laggy. turned the quality down and it was fixed. i also have a computer that is better than the reccomended requirement on NF box. so try my advice if it dosent work im sorry but thats what i did.

Well, why don't you post your dxdiag report up here so I can see what motherboard you have, then maybe I can get somewhere on the intel site and give you a link to your driver.

Click start, then run, then type in dxdiag and hit ok. Then when it's done loading click save all information, on the top of the next screen where it says "save in" select your desktop and hit save. Then reply with the attached text file on here.

Yep, you can get your drivers from the Asus web site. If installing the updated drivers from there doesn't help the problem it could be a hardware failure of some kind.

http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us

if you select:

motherboard
socket775
P5LD2 Deluxe

it will give you the drivers for that motherboard

Here's a more direct link to the latest audio driver

Yea, I would go into your device manager and uninstall your current audio driver, then install the new downloaded driver. Just to be sure it's using the new updated one.

Only thing i can find in device manager with the word driver in it is Enhanced Display Driver Help Service.Other then that i got Audiocodes, Legacy-Audiocontrolprogrammes and realtec high definetion Audio, thats whats under control for sound, video and games anyway where i know its related to sound, other then that i have no idea what my driver would be. The comp aint english by the way so im not sure i translated it right.
